Our name Verdeyá comes from a portmanteau of Verde + Yá which in Spanish translates to Green + Now. We chose this name as an immediate call to action towards a healthier, more sustainable way of living that begins with growing your own organic supply of food. Beyond being a commercial business, we strive to educate and raise awareness about the importance of sustainable farming and personal food security to achieve a flourishing ecosystem that will transform us personally as well as the communities we belong to.

Our Story
Our story begins in 2016, in the aftermath of destruction waged by Hurricane Maria over Puerto Rico. Our founder, Natalia Quiles, felt compelled to be an active participant in the reconstruction of the island. She jettisoned her career as an attorney and plunged into the agricultural world by starting her farm. Verdeyá was born as a way to honor her principles of self-sufficiency and healthy living through a connection with the earth. She soon began to offer an assortment of vegetables and fruits grown in her farm to some of the finest dining restaurants in Puerto Rico, such as the renowned Jose Enrique restaurant. As a result, Verdeyá was profiled in the New York Times as one of the most noteworthy Hurricane María recovery efforts in Puerto Rico.
During the Covid pandemic, Verdeyá adapted to the closing of restaurants by offering her products and those of other small organic farms delivered directly to your house in a distinctive box. These fruit and vegetable boxes became iconic and had such an impact helping other small farmers get back on their feet. Soon farming collectives throughout the island began to offer their own fruit and vegetable boxes that helped their farms thrive during the pandemic.
Verdeyá is now in phase II of our mission. We are moving beyond the farm and into your home. Offering organic seedlings and aeroponic towers is how we empower you with the means to personally achieve a self-sufficient and healthy lifestyle. We invite you to order a tray full of the seedlings you would most like to enjoy in your home and begin your journey towards a self-sufficient way of living that is in harmony with our planet and our bodies.
